Emotions: Really random ones!

Would there be a better day to talk about emotions? No.. There would be a question inside you “Why the hell is today?”
That’s because. well, no good reason. I just wanted to say to the world about it today.
Having married very recently, I have gone though infinite emotions in a month or so. The frustration and the unknown fears, the missing feeling of leaving your loved ones forever, the prospect of having someone for yourself for a lifetime, new home, extremely kind: new people, the weight of carrying their expectations and hopes on your head and a lot of it. If I am going to list them all, I am going make your head spin.
A mix of positive and negative ones, which can bring you to a state of mood swing. I am person, who usually think a lot and “Think–A–Lot” phrase does not qualify me for a person who thinks constructively all the time. Going through this large roller coaster ride, I should say, what happened in my life in the past few months never would fit in the bad/negative emotional background.
I have had the most supportive parents and the best relatives, who have taken care of my emotional state throughout this journey with at most care. I have got the most loving family of people in my husband’s (kinda our home now) home. Of course, a practically thinking, good looking, charismatic man by my side. A dream marriage for so many people. But what I have gone through would never be described by words. The end was always a fairy tale. But, in my mind, there had always been my own set of villians (the good and the bad ones), asking me questions “What if?”, “What if it is not?”, “Why?”, “How?” and a lot of it if framed fully would land you in a mental asylum. Now you image those questions itching me from inside. I got the answers and but the way was so stormy, which was not needed.
A girl, they say is a complex creature. True that. You cannot walk through the mind of a girl once. You would faint. Coz, I did, while I was walking through my own mind. So, then I decided to keep it simple. To keep it to the point.
I, nowadays, eliminate certain questions, by giving them priorities based on how their answers would affect my life. Life is simple. A question can have only answers and not a poem. And also the realization that, “a question in the head and the answer to it: is not life”, will always help us do more than what we can really do in life.
How can this mad girl relate to these things to emotion?, should be the question in your head now. Well, kinda even I don’t know. Being emotional is a part of life. Letting negative emotions rule you is a waste of time. Experience them too. But, don over them. Coz, those are fleeting. The real thing is only in the end: The fairy tale, written differently for different people. Or taking things as if its a fairy tale would always help too.

Happy Independence day!

As India gets a year older than the last year, celebrating its 69th Independence day, I wish you all a Happy Independence day at the first place. There more days to cherish Indian culture, tradition , diversity and integrity. But this day is the one, that brings every Indian together, beyond the worldly things like caste, creed and religion. When life shows us many ways to conquer, we, Indians have the history of choosing the tougher among them, just because it is right. The freedom we got, as the Viceroy signed it with the Indian people, to leave this big rich nation is because of that non-violence movement. All that we learned on the History books.

What Independence has given us is a constitution and the laws that govern the people to right. What we have made from it is a system, that would be so convenient to safe guard ourselves from the grips of it, when something goes wrong in our part. Though there have been a lot of changes with regard to education, women empowerment and life style in general,we lag behind in things we want to give immediate attention.

Where was the law, when a minor, who cruelly raped and disfigured a woman? Where is the law, when small children  face molestation and harassment? Where is the law when people attack one community of people, just because they believe that their ideas and philosophy towards life is better than the weaker one? Where is the law?

I sure agree that law protects us. But, we never realize who it really protects, until Salman Khan walks out of the court after having all the evidences against him in the infamous "Hit and Run case" and " Hunting deers" case. If I had done the same/say any other common citizen have done this, the case would have gone  unnoticed and that common citizen would have had enough of his lifetime to be spent in jail. Laws have become just the rules and we always have an easier penalty to solve the case against them: the people in power and the people with lots of money .

What plays a major role is the media, that loves to project things, the way they want the public to illusionize in their mind. While real news are facts, nowadays, news has become the opinion of fewer group of people repeating their thought again and again to make the public believe it.

We are stronger than the other set of people, by sex or by religion, because we have the duty to protect the weaker one. If this would be remembered by all the citizens this independence day, we would grow to that height cannot be scaled by any other nation in this world.

Happy Independence day again!

So am writing again! Happy friendship day in advance!

There are people around, who are waiting eagerly for my next post. They want to know what this thoughtless writer is doing after marriage. Is she in love? Is she happy? And all that! And why the hell she is not writing?!

Well! At least few people, who are not disturbed by the blog links from my WhatsApp account. For you all, who are expecting and not expecting, here is my article. I fell in love. I am having beautiful days in my life. And I am really madly happy about all the things that happened to me in the last few months. But there is part of mine, missing some essential people. They are at a distance, happy for my happiness, perking me with lots of questions about my marriage and sad for my absence. I shouldn’t exaggerate, but it’s true that some people would miss me dearly. Coz, I do too. Some feelings, you know at the bottom of your heart that its mutual with some people.

Have there been a situation, that would have changed my fate from meeting this people, life would have been boring. The school gang, the college buddies, the hostel guddies, my sister, the training team, the cousin group! Well, I escaped from mentioning the dear ones. But they know it already. The love and the fun of having FRIENDS around, who take an extraordinary effort to make you feel good about yourself is a gift of a lifetime and I should say that I have had that gift. A lot of them. Every year, as you grow, friendship holds different meaning for different people. And for me the people have changed, the places have changed, the bond always appears to be the same.
I have always been a kind of person, who likes to listen to things rather than to talk. My talking grounds had been different, like kind of stages and forums. But, in a closed group, I have always been a receiver of whatever my friends say. I love to talk. But, it would to so emotional (don’t confine this word to sad talks) and only when I feel like doing so. I am a passionate person and I find myself attached only to people, who are passionate. Hate or love, I like it to be the extreme and so do my set of friends or so does that happen.

While I should admit, many things happened in my life because of these best people in life. Every decision, every colorful event in my life would have had them or have them. I would always call them at the one corner of the world at an unholy time, for some unknown reason and when I recall, I find that, they have never denied anything to me.

When for the first time in school, I received a gift from my best friend, I knew that I would never stop loving her. Till this date, she is my first and the best! A gift is small thing. But, for me, on that birthday, that was the most precious thing that happened. From her I learnt, how to make people feel special. When I talk to her, I know, I feel childish and she still calls me innocent and I have no idea why! And those bunch of idiots who made it to my marriage somehow! I love them all!

When it turns to college, I have had a rough time and found the gem of people there too. While coping up with the strict rules of that white stone building in Chennai, I remember, how I was happy beyond those restrictions. There had been on and off friendships and that there are truly lasting ones. I would be a fool, if I am not going to mention the hostel. Well! The most girly giggly days of my life!

And then a period of blankness, where I literally got bored of all these people because, I was so much available for every one of them.

And then, it started again. Friendship is a magic. There are no confinements. Sissy girly times and a bunch of idiots again! The most important set of people because, they knew how numb it feels while we sit doing nothing. And the most thrilling period of my life too. The adventurous and a diverse set of friends, who made it so much difficult to leave them, just because their absence would mean the end of adrenaline rush into the blood. Nutty witty people!

And for now! I have a man, who has made me fall in love, head over heels. For he has inherited mix of the qualities of all those friends mentioned above and then with a tinge of extra love! Kinda found friendship in love :-p!

So the story of friendship goes on and on! To the endless sky and above!

Happy friendship day in advance!

Chennai Lake clean ups!

Rain rain go away, come again another day!

The Chennai people are used to this rhyming phrase from November 2015. Where there had been a time in the city, when rain was considered to be a romantic affair, the Chennai rains last year has run a terror in the spines of the common people that they just wish it stops soon, even when it was a relief for them last week from the boiling heat of the sun. What was left of the rain was the clear understanding that the natural habitats in the city have to be restored. Well, it just narrows down to the lakes, which was once the reason for the formation of the Madras presidency. We have heard in history books that the water body becomes the reason for the formation of civilisation. So formed the civilisation, the urbane one that was/is destroying the city, every way it can.

Following the infamously called #ChennaiRains, many NGOs started showing up in different ways to help the city and one among them is Environmental Foundation of India, shortly called EFI. Their mission in Face book goes like this, “Getting responsible Indians to care for Indian Wildlife”. The description among many that cached my interest was the third one, “Lake conservations”. Lakes are one among the various natural resources, that forms/formed the base of this city Chennai, the then Madras. Puzhal lake and the Chengalpattu lake are still the two important water resources of the population.

So, how does this go on? The lake clean ups? Well, first of all these lakes, that were/are misused are not perennial. They get filled only during monsoon and that last year, the continuous rains helped the lakes find themselves and that is how the so called the worst flood of the Chennai’s lifetime since 200 years happened. Many lakes now proudly holds the banners of big real estate giants, canvassed by the God-knows-great stars of the cine industry, showcasing the really tall buildings of almost 20 to 30 floors. Coming back to clean ups, the EFI has volunteered to clean 7 lakes, 4 in Chennai, and one in Hyderabad, Trivandrum and Srinagar respectively and a beach in Trivandrum.
Since I am a Chennai lover and that I have lived closer to two clean ups there, I wish to say about one of them, Adambakkam lake clean up. Well, the lake is hardly there I would say. There are areas, which clearly show that the lake has been hijacked a long time before. The houses and a cement plant, exactly on the level of the lake  clearly tells you the story. Okay, let us concentrate on the remaining part, the place where clean up is taking place since January 23rd 2016. The voluntary work by EFI, in collaboration with the common public of the place (Here, the Adambakkam people), some organisations like Chennai Trekking club and also by joining hands with some corporate giants through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), involves cleaning the lake every Wednesday from morning 6.00 AM to 8.00 AM. The latest was scheduled on May 18th, which got cancelled due to the rain in that area.

As I have the habit of walking everyday! Okay, that’s a lie. I walk every now and then, crossing this lake. And I could see the difference between the lake that was there before this short rain and after this short rain.

Lake before the sudden rain!

I know that the clean ups were going on. But, I did not want to involve myself. Because, I can see people using the lake as their toilets, their dust bins and a chit- chatting ground too. I would say that the society around the lake has formed this as their tradition and as the proverb goes as “Old habits die hard”, I cannot complain this people of doing so. Where were the government and the local authorities when it all started? No answer. Between all this, I should appreciate the volunteers, who have risked their health in cleaning the lake. A part of the lake looks good. But the people are still misusing it.

New buildings in the lake

The canal to the lake

Lake after the sudden rain!

After the 3 day rain this May (which made every citizen of the city nervous), the Adambakkam lake managed itself to gather some water. I wish I never saw, but then the habit (not exactly) of walking around that place, made me see the same people using the water for bathing and other simple chores. The place was as dirty as hell and as I knew what the people were doing before in that place, I couldn’t stop but pity the volunteers who were risking their immune system for the welfare of the city.

I don’t really have the right to criticize the good works done by the volunteering organisations. I do not participate in helping them as of now. But, as a third person looking from a distance, I can suggest them to give a detailed input to the public around the lakes, about what they are really going to do and how it is going to benefit the local people ecologically and what they expect from them in return. This would do I guess. No human can go beyond certain limit in spoiling the good works, when they know that it’s going to benefit them someway. This would also help them gather more people, the uneducated ones, who really needs change in their lives.

*Mirrors*

She has always loved them! The mirrors!
Because she always believed that they reflect everything that falls on them!
That there would be no discrepancy in that!
They had been close to her heart!
Closer to her soul!
Enriching her! Making her fall in love again and again!
With herself!

But, these days,
She didn't really like them!
Because now she knew that they never reflect everything!
She couldn't see the reflection of her soul!
She could realize that there is always something missing!
She just wonders all the while about what went wrong with them!
And She couldn't really figure out what!
So she started hating them!
The mirrors!

And but the mirrors couldn't stop laughing at her!
They just do the job of reflecting things that fall on them!
And that they knew that she had lost her soul, somewhere to life!
And She was searching that ones that left!
Like a blind inquiring the light!

The mirrors now reflect the absence!
That's what they can do! Their job!

You are just a residue!

To start off with, we are just a residue: Not because we are a part of 7 billion people in this planet earth! But because we carry a small piece of everyone we meet. Part of us is carried by many people who meet us. In that way, we are the residues of the people we have been with and loved! Yeah, in that way.

When you notice what you do closely, you will find that. Every small choices in your life is a reminder that someone else existed in your life and you loved them. Inside of u is them and they make u select. Of course, not intentionally. And even you will not realize that! U do it unconsciously.

Why do we really choose that way?
I have my story for u. When I entered my college, I had to leave behind one of my best friends from school. Well, I was not emotionally aware at that time that I missed her. But, whenever I went to choose something, even silly things like a click pencil or a pen or nail polish or anything, I chose purple. When one of my College friends asked me if purple was my favorite color, I said no! She asked me, "Then why the hell do you select everything in purple!?".

It struck me hard that moment that it was my best friend's favorite color. I have taken a residue of her and started living that inside me. I cannot bring her back into my life, coz we separated our ways. But still her residues do live with me. I don't miss her anymore. I am happy for that. Coz, I know to how to cheat life. I know how to hold on to memories. I know how to be with people who really matter to me, even when I am not physically with them. A lot of small tastes have changed in my life this way.

Hey! True that! I am just a residue. We all are. We live as if we are less worried about the ones who come and go out of our life. It's not true! We appear to be that way. Coz, we live with them in the small things we do.

If you think that you are alone, pity you, it's just your thought. You are a companion to someone else somewhere as a memory. So, remember that. You are not alone and you are loved! You might think that I am mad. That I am! But, this is me. This is about many people, who don't care about being mad. They just care and love to the extent of ignoring everything else.

Google, Facebook and you!

You are manipulated!

How many of you know that Facebook and Google already know what you want to buy or they can even force you do that by posting Ads in your wall or in your browser search. You might think that it's a "Wow!" thing, but it is not. They trace your behavior once you log on to a Social Media site and gather as much information as they can and the next time you enter the site, you are shown with Ads about brands that either your friends liked or based on the likes you have clicked.

Say for example, I have a friend who really likes dressing well even for normal occasions. Her wall flows with Ads from Myantra, Voonik and many other online shops. At one point of time, she becomes so familiar with certain brands of clothes or a boutique or a fashion shop. When she is about to buy something, she go to their website directly. Hey! dude, you know what? Google and Facebook win a millions of times a day, like this. For her, its a dress or shoes. But for them, its business, money.

Not being a fashion freak, I am interested in short stories and cliches, which I can relate to. You can see my wall overflowing with that. Facebook does a good job for me in that aspect (But, I should admit, I am gettin bored of it now!). And again, when I was exploring one of my friend's page, her's was full of colorful photos. That was different for me. OMG! Why am I not getting those things in my wall? I questioned myself. Haha! Then I realized that I don't show so much interest in those kind of photo things in my Facebook or any other SM sites, except when they are from really close friends.

This field of predicting people behavior or manipulating them is what done now. All around the world, by all the big giant companies. They call this field data analytics. There are jobs being created every now and then in every company, be it IT or Finance or whatever: naming it Data Scientists, to find what you do online and how it can be turned towards their benefits. They fetch you a decent pay too.

Branding?- Nope, its Psychology!

Why do you think Apple became a symbol of pride? The answer is that, they spent a lot of money branding it. The company literally made you believe that "They-are-the-best-phone-makers-in-the-world". May be they are. But, still I believe that no other company has ever went so much to the subconscious level of every human being in the world and made them believe that way. Though there are Memes mocking Iphone's costs,

[I have 1 for u here]

Any techie thing other than Apple's makes you feel less. Doesn't it? Even if some people say "no", I continue to stick on to it.

Because, it is the truth. Steve Jobs have done a good job. The difference between the online branding and him is that he used his own Public speaking and soft skills for that. Now, every branding is done with/through your personal data. I think Steve Jobs is better in this aspect. I forgive him.

Its not just about your "Wow, Google says it all/ Facebook shows me what I want to see." It's Psychology. The digital media penetrate your subconscious level and make you buy things you will never think of buying. They, in general use it well to gather a lot of money for their pocket by doing that. At some point of time, it might turn dangerous, coz, they will say/show  what they want you to see, which has another English word called : Dictate. Its not happening now. But, it's possible.

You believe what you hear again and again!

Sathiya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft has given every Indian a hope, that they can be not just a part, but the CEO of big companies at US one day. Even I have this weird notion that every student, who goes to study at US at some point of time, becomes an employee of Microsoft. To break my belief was Sundar Pichai, who became the CEO of Google. This assumption came into existence inside me coz, I heard a lot of people saying stories about their son or daughter (Proudly!) and about some of their relative's son or daughter (Not a tinge, but with a ton of jealousy!), who settled after an MS in US, with a job in Microsoft.

You believe what you hear again and again. Don't you? You are just a residue (That's my next article's title. Haha! If you read this article properly, you know what I am doing!) in this big world. Not because there are lots of other people. But because, your every single decision and choice are influenced heavily by what you are said by others, again and again. And the worst thing is that, you never know that you are being manipulated when you enter SM sites. (Hey! That sentence is scary I guess). Technology is powerful, useful and all that. But, remember to be careful. Don't become a slave of it. That's the thing I wanted to say, exactly : Be careful! (With me too ;-) )

Ufff.. You are bored. I know! Fine, I end it here! The next will be more interesting I promise.

Next:
You are just a residue
Not about digital media for sure! The main objectives would be
1. To show how people you meet and unmeet influence your choices and decisions
2. How the real human touch persists in certain things, even today?!
3. You are not alone!
A completely different one from what you read now.

Thank you note:
Thanks to one of my best buddies +Vivek Anand, who created an interest in this field of Data Analytics. I came to know about them better, because of him and it helped me a lot with this piece of writing.

Health is wealth

We all know what is wealth. While the perception of wealth varies from decade to decade, this decade is very precious in a way that, we are ...
